MEET THE ARTISTS
Jessica Miles, a sculptor by profession, moved into the world of textiles when she discovered the incredible fibres of the humble coconut. Hobo Beautiful was born from here as a creative macrame project, and her handmade ‘In Between the Palms’ and ‘From the Earth’ interior and fashion collections followed.
Terzan Odayar restores and builds classic motorcycles and is an innate maker who has been putting his hand to a wide range of materials throughout his life, from leather to metals and parts. With a fine eye for detail, Terzan’s making process involves a deep dive into handmade craftsmanship, with a sharp focus on technique and quality.
Jessica and Terzan met in 2021, and quickly discovered their shared passion for traditional techniques, natural materials, and contemporary design. Soon after Terzan joined Hobo Beautiful to expand the design studio and product range. Resonance is the studio’s first collection since its re-launch.
Together, the duo are inspired by material exploration and sourcing – an integral element of their development process – and the abundance of skilled artisans throughout the island. Their mission today is to elevate handmade crafts in Sri Lanka to create sustainably made fashion and lifestyle pieces.
With a strong focus on natural materials, high-quality detailing and our impact on the planet, Hobo Beautiful aims to transcend fads or fleeting trends to create timeless, and essential lifestyle pieces. We are passionate about design that resonates with conscious consumers, delivering authentic products to a like-minded community that shares our values on transparency; how things are made and where. This is why we work with natural materials in our collections; cotton, linen, leather and brass. We create in small-batch collections to minimise waste and create products that are made to last.
